Interesting. My Department also purchased the Enterprise Zmanda license
to get NDMP support. However our lastest upgrade on the file server
changed the NDMP requirements and Zmanda can no longer use it. I've
switched to have Zmanda use NFS, which I could do with regular open
source Amanda.
start sending in the estimates, and about 3/4's of the time, the
server processes just die. The end of the amdump log file just has
estimate info at the end, no errors.
Any suggestions on where to look would be greatly appreciated.

x27;s tape which only has an incremental, its not prompting for the
most recent level 0 at all. I can work around it manually, but
amrecover has always worked "normally" for me in the past.
If anyone has any ideas . . .

As a fudge factor, I'd double your measured delay.

I used my old amanda.conf with the addition of creating a new dumptype
to use calcsize as the only change.
I'm gonna go through the debug files in detail next.
If anyone has any ideas I'd sure like to hear them.
thanks

Is there any documentation on how to implement the use of the "calc" or
"server" options for estimates in 2.5? I don't see anything in the
examples.

way any time soon.
That being said, these days I may well lean towards LTO. I've heard very
good things about the hardware compression in LTO drives.
Regarding external vs. internal, I strongly prefer external. Tape drives
can get hot.

Needless to say, the intermittancy of this making troubleshooting
difficult.
The clients on the same subnet as the server back up normally.

So, does amanda cache the server IP somewhere that I can flush? I been
looking around but have't found anything.

Since the 2.4.4 code has been patched for a NetApp, I'm assuming someone
is actually using it?

Has anyone experimented with using xfs with xfsdump on a linux based
file server as an alternative to tar on reiserfs.

Our site is installing a Network Appliance in the next month or so. We
currently use amanda to backup our linux file servers. The NetAp guys
tell us they think ndmp was getting rolled into amanda but I don't see
anything in a brief search. Is anyone using amanda and ndmp?

Its been said repeatedly on this list, that one of the hardest things to
learn about amanda, is to trust it. We've been using it in our shop for
years and it has *never* let us down. It will tell you through the
reports it generates if you are asking too much of it so you can adjust

after the tape job completes the dump starts again. I think John had a
perl script that would take an amdump files and convert the time stamps?

We are changing from multiple DLT drives to an Overland Express 10 tape
changer. Been looking at the FAQ's and such but any hints would be
appreciated.
We have the unit cabled up and have verified it can read and write (the
easy stuff!).
Thanks,
