tar + solaris 2.6

Hello, i'am using Solaris 2.6 + Amanda 2.4.2p2. The backup server is on linux. When i'am trying to backup a partition (around 5.5 Gigs) using tar (gnutar 1.3.19) for cross-platform backup, i just get a time out and tar seem to run forever. For the others partitions, i don't have the problem,
