I just got a MacBook Pro (10.5.4) and I want to add it as a client on
my Amanda server.
I looked at
http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/Installation/OS_Specific_Notes/Installing_Amanda_on_Mac_OS_X#Version-Specific_Notes
and it doesn't mention leopard. Do I follow the same instructions?
I noticed

As far as I know. My machines are
Just an FYI for you all, since I didn't see a good place to put it on
the wiki:
Amanada has been working fine for me since 10.5 (now on 10.5.4) using
SSH connections/authentication. I have not tested bsd auth, but the
amanda client itself is fine.

This may take a while. I went to the step on setting up the amanda
user and the niutil command is no longer there.
I guess I have to think more about this and learn more about my Mac.

Read the whole page - there's a fix for that already.

Good to know, Michael, I am still using the xtar trick, didn't even check,
, and amanda works on Intel chipped Mac just fine.

Which gcc-release is this? What make-binary?
Maybe you have hit the same bug as we had on Solaris lately, where the
problem was that the system used a non-BSD-version of make (and OSX is a
kind of BSD ...).
The solution there was to use /usr/ccs/bin/make, but I
I'm tring to build amanda client on a new Mac 10.4.1 box.
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/amanda-2.4.5 --with-user=amanda
--with-group=wheel --with-config=hmcis --without-server
--host=powerpc-apple-darwin
Then a simple make which ends with:
/bin/sh ../libtool --mode=link gcc -g -O2 -o

I just wanted the latest on the new client.
I would think you may have more luck seeing if there's a prebuilt amanda
client available in Fink. Anyone else have

Hello all,
I am trying to see if I can use Amanda 2.4.2p2 on Mac OS X 10.1
I have also tried the 2.4.3b3 but I was not able to generate correct
Makefile, they are all empty.
For the client part, I was able to configure and compile.
For the server part I wasn't able to compile the changer-src
Has anyone used Amanda on OS X release? Given what I've heard about
OS X, I would expect the bulk of it to work with some unknown grief
level, modulo issues about how the Mac filesystem bits appear in the
BSD tree.
Thus, my real questions are:
Is Amanda on OS X a sufficient backup scheme for

I just spent some time with my local Mac wizard and he says getting
Amanda working is probably not too hard (he gave me an account on his
machine, but I haven't decide whether to thank or curse him for that :-).
