Bummer!
We've used amanda for more than 3 years to backup Linux, Solaris 6, 7 and 8,
HP-UX 10.20 and 11.0, IRIX and IRIX64, NT4 and AIX and have had no problems
with the restore proceedures from GNUTAR nor the native dump utilities. Of
course, we are probably behind the curve on the amanda
?
All parameters for the two dumps are identical and the amount of data backed
up using each backup set is very similar.
Has anyone else seen this issue?

Brandon,
We've been running a 20 tape/2 drive changer for more than 3 years now and
have a separate config for each of the drives. cron starts two jobs each
night to backup about half of our workstations/servers to each tape drive.
The daily jobs use about two tapes each and the weekend
of an amanda tape without the amanda
software??

Does the exclude list file live on the server or client, or both?

On our systems, we ran into debian creating a local user named backup. That
caused problems with our NIS backup user. So we deleted the local and
everything worked.
I´am running amanda 2.4.2p2 in debian linux (installing from apt-get
)
My error is :

We just received an L40 tape library. OEM'd as Sun, robotics is identified as
HP C7200-8000. The tape drives are available, but Sun says sorry -- no
drivers for the robotics/library.
Where can I get a driver or the code to roll my own?

To a certain extent you can
As a matter of fact, yes. I have a Sun L40 (HP 7200-8000) Library and mtx
works just fine with that unit.

Just curious - anyone using mtx from sourceforge.net?

So after a successful level 0 backup (you have to have 1) add the line:

Well, there are a couple of options I can think of off the top of my head.
1. Use a second config file for the weekend backups and add the line:
strategy noinc
in the dumptype definition
2. Do a:
amadmin config force hostname
prior to running the weekly backups.

I recently ran a monthly backup, and there was a tape error and some

Other than the path to the server being different and having no server_args or
