You don't have to use a loop. Just by adding
AddColumn(C, Close, 1.0);
to your formula, you will be able to use
Analysis, Automatic Analysis, Explore
to get a list of ticker name, dates and closing prices. You can then save the
results as a CSV file (File button).
To select all the tickers
Hi, thanks.
Yes, I have tried that, but all tickers are then written to only one column
containing the tickerdata successively, so it is difficult to separate them
when opening the .csv file in other programs. I need each ticker to have their
own column..

Sorry, I missed the bit about the columns. Try this:
t1 = Foreign(TICKERNAME1, C);
AddColumn(t1, TICKERNAME1 Close, 1.0);
t2 = Foreign(TICKERNAME2, C);
AddColumn(t2, TICKERNAME2 Close, 1.0);
etc.
I hope that does the trick.
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for responding.
It sounds like what I'm looking for but does not quite work. The price chart
I'm using has an increment size (tick) is 0.5 (FTSE)
I have the following code set.
_SECTION_BEGIN(Price);
SetChartOptions(0,chartShowArrows|chartShowDates);
TimeFrameMode( 4 ); //
Hi, thanks, but I'd rather not do it manually:) Say, I have about 200 tickers
that have passed the test in the filter, so it should cycle through the these
tickers automatically (like stated in the first post), creating 200 columns. Is
it possible?

For range charts, make sure you have Tick size set properly for your symbol.
Display the Symbol information window (Symbol-Information...), scroll down to
Contract Specification and make sure Tick Size is set to 0.5 for the FTSE.
The time displayed for a bar can be configured in
Yep, TradeStation added several new chart types about a year ago, including
range, line break, etc.
One of the gotchas is that range bars built in real time with tick data are
different than range bars built longer time frame underlying data. Still, they
are very popular with the watch the
Hi Peter --
To be sure we are all looking at the same situation, post the code you have
a question about.
A common reason trades last longer than might be expected is that the Buy
condition reoccurs during the trade.

is there an easy way to iterate over all the trades i want to place on a

signal level. i want to apply a filter at the aggregate rather than
individual level. do i need to write my own custom backtest?

You have to include your custom indicator code in your strategy code. This can
be done a number of ways:
- copy the custom indicator code into your strategy code.
- #include your custom indicator AFL at the top of your strategy code.
If you have a need to call your indicator over and

Is there an efficient way to sort an array in AFL? Or a plug-in with a
function to sort an array? I need to sort the entire array from beginning to
end, not a rolling lookback period.
check out the OSAKA plugin. Should be on the AB site under third party
