I've gone as far as 2 feet between spreaders on #14 gauge solid copper wire
with no problems. Note: mild weather here in the Pacific Northwest, not much
snow or wind, just lots of rain.
The spreaders in use here are made from 1/4 inch fiberglass rod, drilled and
notched for (I think) 5 inch
Sandy, I am going to use 6 inch spacers that are made of ceramic. I have
some E.F. Johnson round spacers that will be part of the system.
I would think that I will use a lot of spacers if I space them 1 foot apart.
I guess it is a matter of keeping the two wires from touching.

I am using 6 inch spreaders so it would be around 600 ohms. I am looking
for the space between spacers along the wire.
