Don, et al. my audiologist told me that when I get my new hearing aid, I can
hear way past 10,000 cycles. I cannot wait to hear those expanded
frequencies coming from enhanced audio modulators. Bring it on!! And, who
said that growing old doesn't have its advantages!

It used to be ~7.290-7.295. However since the advent of the SW stations
clearing out, (or supposedly), there has been some activity down the band. I
haven't been on
There has been some activity of late on 7160... I'd sure like us to
turn up the heat!!!
I'll be looking!!

Plenty of activity out there most days and nights, Hal. The trick is to
actually call CQ rather than simply
Keep in mind that some of the here stations may be within your cone of
silence. I live in The South of Oklahoma and there is a guy over in
Central New Mexico near Alberquirky that I haven't heard in about 2
years. He is very active on 7.290 but propagation is not favorable

found on 3.663 in the mornings and afternoons now.
Pity that they chose that spot. On everyone else's recommendation for
some new zone AM spots, I built a stock of 80m AM crystals for
everyone on 3675, 3685 and 3735 kHx.
I also check 7160 but am hesitant to start calling CQ because whenever
I check it, there are SSB qsos all over it every 2 khz or so.

Dale,
I'm hoping to become active on 40M AM as soon as I can get the equipment setup
finalized. I just got my receiver back from the repair/alignment doctor and
it's sweet! Transmitter has been proved into a dummy load so I'm almost ready
to golive as they say in the computer biz.

Thanks to all the reply's concerning the 7160 freq... I listened/called
CQ several times today with no results. True, there's a lot of SSB activity
there. I think we missed the opportunity. 40M has been poor for SE comms in
the past few years.
I remember a few years back it was the prime
There are people like that everywhere and if you don't hear any activity
for more than a minute or two, then that is too bad. Many operators
listen to a frequency and claim ownership. Just call and if I hear you
and have time, I will answer and talk to you as time permits.
Don't let those
I have been so busy lately, the radio has not been on at all.
40 meters seems poor for years now, I think it needs some sun spots to work
well.
It used to be a gang buster band, with 20 people on in 3 round tables, with
people coming and going all day.
When 40 works well, 50 watts is enough to
40m has had some great nights this year from Wisconsin - those times I
was easily working Europeans on SSB with 100 watts and a wire vertical.

Hi Berni:
Just saw your appeal. If you have a photo of the receiver or can tell me its
tuning frequency range, we might be able to identify it. It may have been a
NM-10 (AN/URM-6) with a VLF range of 14 kHz to 250 kHz. This 1950s model had a
separate power supply and a panel cover. It is
