Yes- the new ARRL website isn't as user-friendly as the previous one, for it
took me quite awhile to find out where they were hiding their ARRL publications
such that one could easily retrieve previous QST articles.
Anyho- the path to ARRL publications is found under their Technology Tab, i.e.
Greetings from a lurker --
Dick has an interesting idea here and I enjoy pretending that I know how to
play the numbers g so here goes...
Let's use the 200w figure with a car amp with a bridge amplifier powered by
the car's 12v battery, and for the moment we will neglect the losses.
The amp's
well that does not seem to work for me. I can bring up the list of articles

Are you a member of the ARRL? You can't dowload articles unless you are a

Lee,
I have been a LIFE MEMBER since 1973 and still can't download articles from
QST. Yes, I know that they are unavailable after 2005.

I downloaded a couple of articles yesterday without any difficulty.
Being a member is required. Then you need to login to the site. If you do not
provide your proper login credentials, it will behave as described.

Hi Brian,
There are several options. I use an old Dow-Key relay with my DX-60. It's
powered from the accessory socket on the back of the DX-60 (117 volts, as I
recall), and is energized when you rotate the function switch to AM or CW.
Also, if you can't find a Dow-Key at a reasonable price
Since your panel is painted this might not be good info, but on anodized panels
you wipe or brush some fill paint (white enamel maybe?) over the engraved
nomenclature and wipe off the excess with a rag dampened with the proper
solvent for the paint you're using. I have seen engraving / machine
I did this recently with a national receiver that I repainted. A white lacquer
stick will do a good job filling in the depression. I used artist's paint with
no thinner and a small brush to dab it into the recessed area. I wiped it off
with a dry paper towel. You will not get all of it off, but
I also had good results using a white lacquer stick on a National receiver
as well as the panel and knobs of a 1924 Freed-Eismann receiver. The red
lacquer stick is a perfect match for the line on Hallicrafter knobs such as
the SX-99.

Thanks for the great Ideas.
I am thinking the Latex paint would be the best approach then a coat of clear
to finish and seal the markings.
