Of course you are right. I found a schematic of their controller

Hi,
I've been interested in this thread as I have a shorted G5500 elevation
motor. I reported this several months ago, and found that it was a
fairly common problem.
I'm waiting for warmer WX when I plan to replace it. I'm wondering
whether there have been any reports of the over heating
The last couple of summers I did some Algonquin Park canoe/backpak trips and put
some unique grids on the sats with a portable setup using a handheld, android
tablet, and mini personal computer. I powered all of them from a small 12v gelcell
battery charged with a small solar panel.

Nick,
According to Flex, the data through VAC has the standard voice pre/post
emphasis filtering and limiting, which should make 9600 baud problematic.
They do have a request in for a way to bypass all that. The equivalent of
the direct connections in conventional rigs. This does have

It does not appear much audio is coming out of the VAC port when drying to
decode 9.6 kbs FLEX dimo this rig as satellite ready over a year ago it is
time for them to keep their promise.

Hi Clive,
I haven't heard of failures of the controller or software directly, but
this could happen. A more common problem might be mis-calibration, in that
if your elevation rotor reads only 175 degrees and your software and
controller is trying to send it to 180 degrees, the thing will keep
