Several years ago, due to corroded pins, I contacted Yaesu for a replacement
(the male side). I decided while at it I would get a spare female. The price
they quoted before shipping was $100 Plus I hard wired it!! Used same fix
for the on off switch on the control box!

An around the world balloon attempt will be made sometime next week. The
payload is about the size of two 9v batteries (50 grams) and will be carried
by 10 underinflated party balloons above 40,000 feet in the Jet Stream.
The balloon will only have CW battery, Inside and Outside temp data. All

13.2 dBd sounds a little optimistic for a 4.7-foot UHF yagi. My older
9-foot Diamond A430-S15 yagi was rated at 12.7 dBd, and the 9-foot
highly optimized M2 432-12EME antenna is rated at 14.3 dBd.
I'd ballpark a 5-foot yagi at around 10 dBd or so myself ... maybe
they misprinted dBi ad
Question: since the balloon will be flying below 50 km, and therefore not
operating as a space station, how are you handling the issue of a US amateur
station transmitting in foreign jurisdictions? Reciprocal operating permits or
licensure in all anticipated jurisdictions in the flight path,

Our club was thinking of doing a balloon, does anyone remeber the last couple
clubs that did that? I am finding the most important part will be the parachute
thinga ma jig...Not that we care about the package, just dont want to kill
anybody... :)
