Hi all
I'm changing cell phone carriers and I can choose either an Android phone
or an iPhone as my next smartphone.
I haven't decided which phone yet, but I'd like to know which
satellite-related apps other operators are using on both types of phones.
Are there any apps for satellites other
Hi,
I have used a very similar setup in the past with a Sandpiper dual band yagi (3
elements on 2m, 5 on 70cms) so the Elk, or Arrow antenna should work just as
well.
I had mine set at a fixed elevation of around 30 degrees, this was great for
ISS, and AO-51 when she was active, good luck on t

Hi Mike,
That's interesting to hear, does this mean the 902 MHz band downlink will be
active over Europe ?

Yep, that puts the main beam on the horizon where you need it most and where
satellties spend over 70% of their time. Even at 15 degrees, you still are
within 1 dB of max gain on the horizon. T
Id, I have sent you my informal 'construction article' along with pictures

This is an excellent compromise and economical...and it works great. I use
the Elk because, as you will see in the photos, you can center the weight
mass right over the RS rotor. I don't see how you could do that wi
Note that you can also install XP in a virtual machine on lesser versions of
Win 7 (and Vista), but it's a multi-step process, and you must supply the XP
installation disk.
First, download and install Virtual PC from Microsoft. Then create a
virtual machine, and install XP onto it just as you
Hi Trevor,
The satellite signals will be received and decoded by the EXA HERMES-A ground
station in Guayaquil and then uploaded live to the Internet using Facebook and
Twitter...

Hi Kev,
I am not in the UK/Scotland but in the south part of The Netherlands
and I have used both of them.
Even Canada is possible with SO-50 from my location.

For logging I've found Logger32 works well, especially for keeping track
of your portable operations. Logger allows you to log to a single
logbook using different operators. For example, I use my callsign for
normal QSOs, and /QRP, /6MTR, /SAT for home SAT QSOs, and /GRID for
portable locatio
It's been done a number of times, though like most things, it's a
compromise that will work better for some satellites than others.
The thing about the Elk or Arrow that works well with their usual
(hand-held) use is that they are linearly polarized, but mounted on a
3-axis rotor system (your

I don't seem to hear any the passes . I hear and use Fo29 and Vo52 OK
but no success on FM birds. I worked Sumbandila and Echo in the past so
not sure if am doing something wrong?.
Cheers for any response.

Besides the other programs listed already, I still use WISP for a few quick

For satellite logging, if you don't use HRD, then the DXLabs DXKeeper. At

This may have been discussed before forgive me if it has I am new at this.
I was wondering if an Elk or Arrow antenna mounted on a mast at an angle
with a TV rotor would work as a base antenna for Satellite work. Has anyone
done this and any tips on how you have been successful. If this does not
