Hi all,
I was a bit late in setting up to monitor Fitsat-1 due to local QRM.
However pleased to report that I received the satellite still quite strong
over here in Wales -UK during a pass
today ( Tuesday 2nd July 2013) at 1120 hrs GMT.

We suffered an epic fail on getting heard on this morning's 7:15 am pass of
SO50. Using an HT and Arrow II. I heard K2A, K2J and K2D, but nobody was
able to hear my call. My PL is correct and I hope that it is just the
clouds and lousy weather. Will try again for this evening's pass if not
Heard FITSAT 1 CW beacon very loud and clear during 21 degree 11:42 UT

Hi Betsy,
Sorry we didn't hear you.I'm operating from North Carolina as
N8MH/K2J. As you heard, for a good while during the SO-50 pass there were
three of us (K2A, K2D, and K2J) standing by. Plenty of time for QSOs.
I (and others) find SO-50 to be a bit variable in regard to frequency, so

During the first year, or so, with AO-7, I used horizontal polarization with
the 2-meter and 70-cm antennas elevated about 30-degrees. The 10-meter antenna
was a 2-element yagi horizontally mounted. Only the azimuth was varied. Later
I added an az-el rotor for the 2-meter and 70-cm antennas.
I am not sure if this grids are active or not since I have not have the
chance to work them yet, but I be portable and active on SO-50 only from
7/10/2013 till 7/15/2013. I be active on as many passes I can. If anyone
need this grids can contact me via email my information is good in QRZ.com.

I dug out some old books including OSCAR: The Ham Radio Satellites by Dave
Ingram, K4TWJ, and OSCAR Amateur Radio Satellites by Stratis Caramanolis, and
the AMSAT Journal from December 1974. All three agree that in the Northern
Hemisphere, AO-7 polarizations are as follows:
