Hi,
Thanks to everyone for all of your responses. It looks like I have
found a downconverter. Next question... Does anyone have any ideas on
a cheap and easy homebrew antenna? Would a "cantenna" work for a small
portable setup? I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible as AO-51

Hello...
I heard some QSOs on S band on the last pass...I have had to repair
my connection to the dish to receive the down link signal.
I was successful to hear some signals from the L48. I could
not make out the call signs but it is encouraging.. I will keep
on trying. W7LRD,.Bob.. I w
This last pass worked W6YX and heard Kerry, WC7V. Noticed some very deep

The last pass of AO51 I did not hear anything on V/U so I switched to
V/S and did hear an N8?? on one transmission, before they disappeared.
I then called cq several times with good signal returns, but no one
came back to me.

Hi!
Since it is summertime here, coupled with working extra time
during most of the last week, I didn't get out to work a lot
of AO-51 passes while the S-band downlink was on. I was able
to work two AO-51 V/S passes - a western pass Thursday evening,
and an eastern pass Saturday afternoon. Usin
Great pass at 22:43, thanks to John (K8YSE) and Al (W8KHP) for the
contacts - its been a while since I worked mode V/S.
Thanks to the team for scheduling these modes.

This last pass on '51 was notable for almost lack of fading! At least from
Seattle. I did some tweeking on the LVB tracker, adjusting in 3 degree
increments. Super strong signals on the S band downlink. The usual list of
culprits were in attendance. Is there anyone in KL7 that has S band
Hello
I worked the last three passes of AO-51. I am observing some very deep fades
during the pass. Some at fairly high elevations. Rx conditions are a three
foot primestar dish, 5 1/2 turn helix feed, 3731AA transystem down converter,
forty feet of RG-6 to a TS700A rcvr. Signals will p
Good to know my old AO-40 (sobsob) S band gear is still FB! Very low pass here
(Seattle) 4 degrees. Coppied Mike-KC9ELU right at his LOS. The next two
passes I will be fine tuning my dish pointing, via the LVB tracker. Too much
fun!

I use a Kenwood ts 2000x for for v/s mode but think you can do it on
your Yaesu ft 736 the same way I do here.
I run the SSB 2.4 down converter with 2 meter output down the coax
into the shack.
Then the cable goes into a Hamtronics 2m to 10m downconverter.
Then the now 10m signal goes into th
I would like to try this mode using a K5GNA downconverter. The problem is I am
using an FT-736R and apparently you can not have Xmit and Rcv on same band in
satellite mode. I am using SATPC-32 for doppler control. The downconverter uses
a 2m IF. Anyone else with an FT-736R have this worked out?
Luc,
Sorry. In the heat of battle this morning I totally didn't recognise
your call sign but thanks for the mode V/S contact on AO-51 just a short
while ago!
