[amtalk] Re: H/drives
If you are replacing the internal hard drive for the A1200, yep, it is simply one of the 2.5" IDE laptop drives. I even installed two of them in one of my A1200s at one time. Simply made one of them master and the other slave (changed the jumpers). Not much room, but it worked. These things are available on eBay at pretty good prices. Frankly, I don't even know if there is such a thing as a SCSI 2.5" drive. Possible, I suppose, but rare if available at all. > Thanks Jon for your reply,I can now go ahead and buy a IDE > H/D to fit in = to the carrier/cradle of the A1200,I have > never been really certain of wh= ether to go for a scsi or an ide.Len. ___ AmTALK Mailing List - http://www.vapor.com/amtalk/ AmTALK FAQ.: http://faq.vapor.com/amtalk/ Listserver Help: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=HELP Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=UNSUBSCRIBE
[amtalk] Re: H/Drives
Len, I take it you are using an A1200. If you are going to buy an external drive to run off the squirrel interface, you need a SCSI drive (in an external case naturally). You can just chain the drive with your SCSI CD/RW but pay attention to the termination. If you are replacing the internal drive in the A1200, you need IDE (the Amiga reads the internal IDE drives as SCSI for some reason - they are actually/really IDE). Hope this helps. > If there is anyone at home could you answer a question for me > please At the moment I am using a squirrel interface > connecting to an external s= csi CD/RW but I need to buy a > new H/Drive and I am confused whether I nee= d a SCSI H/D or > an IDE H/D or will either of them do??.Thank you,Len > > ___ > AmTALK Mailing List - http://www.vapor.com/amtalk/ > AmTALK FAQ.: http://faq.vapor.com/amtalk/ > Listserver Help: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=HELP > Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=UNSUBSCRIBE > ___ AmTALK Mailing List - http://www.vapor.com/amtalk/ AmTALK FAQ.: http://faq.vapor.com/amtalk/ Listserver Help: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=HELP Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=UNSUBSCRIBE
