If you are replacing the internal hard drive for the A1200, yep, it is
simply one of the 2.5" IDE laptop drives. I even installed two of them
in one of my A1200s at one time. Simply made one of them master and the
other slave (changed the jumpers). Not much room, but it worked. These
things are available on eBay at pretty good prices. Frankly, I don't
even know if there is such a thing as a SCSI 2.5" drive. Possible, I
suppose, but rare if available at all.

Len, I take it you are using an A1200. If you are going to buy an
external drive to run off the squirrel interface, you need a SCSI drive
(in an external case naturally). You can just chain the drive with your
SCSI CD/RW but pay attention to the termination. If you are replacing
the internal drive in the A1200, you need IDE (the Amiga reads the
internal IDE drives as SCSI for some reason - they are actually/really
IDE). Hope this helps.
