android-1.5r3 adb already supports Galaxy device (if that is what you were
looking for as official Google support)

For what I haved experimented with my Galaxy from Kubuntu 9.04 :
I had to use the patched adb, dowloded from :
http://floe.butterbrot.org/external/adb.gz
the standard adb from android-1.5r3 did'nt detect the phone.
I had to put the following line in /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules:
