How do I ensure the file is saved on the physical SD card, not a
virtual or mounted only version of it?
How do I move a file from one android tablet to another?

I save a file called mySol.sol onto the SD Card in the slot (mnt/
sdcard/) on my Motorola Xoom Android tablet.
I remove the SD Card from the Xoom.
I insert the SD Card on my Acer Iconia Android tablet. I browse the
SD Card using various SD Managers/File Managers, but I do not see the
mySol.sol file.

Seems like nothing is actually showing me what is physically on the SD
card itself.
Seems the devices only show me what is in the devices "copy" of what
was on the last mounted SD Card.

I tried some of the apps, such as SD rescan, etc. But, they don't
seem to help.

A little background: Techs take one primary tablet and one backup
tablet to the field. If they damage one tablet, I need them to be
able pull out the SD Card in the primary tablet and insert it into the
backup tablet so recover the data stored in the mySol.sol file.

I don't really understand the difference between the files on the
physical SD card and the files in /mnt/sdcard .

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Don
