I believe that the purchaseToken persists, and it only changes its purchase state. It should not be possible to buy twice. When I have attempted a purchase request with the product id of an item already subscribed, it pops up with a message that indicates that I already own it and cannot purchase again. Another safeguard to ensure that the situation never arises anyway is to update your UI to disable controls that trigger purchase requests. I hope this info helps.
