I'm a developer myself and encountered the same problem over and over again while developing apps for myself and others: it is too hard to include content like points of interest, recipes, trivia questions, announcements, ... in your apps.
This is why I created a side project called StorageRoom, a flexible cloud-based CMS built specifically for Mobile Apps. Independent developers, agencies or freelancers can use StorageRoom to create apps faster and to combine the advantages of native mobile applications with the ease of maintenance of websites. There already is an Android example app and a library will be coming for easier integration within apps.
