I forgot to add that accessing bluez directly is only possible from native
code, which is not officially
supported by official system images like the one on the G1.
For normal applications, we provide a Java Bluetooth API wrapping bluez,
but which currently covers only

True, but if his phone has upgraded to RC30 yet, then he could get
root access and install debian alongside android which is detailed
here http://www.saurik.com/id/10.
Another possibility would be to hope that Android is upgraded to allow
access to the bluetooth hardware through the SDK. Then
Hi Jim:
Is it possible to run Openmoko SO on other hardware than Freerunner?
(thinking on iPaq hx 4700). Same question would apply to Android. I
think it's time to re-use old machines: better for Nature and our poor
economy (i do no not care about big companies: they do care about
themselves).
Then why don't you make if for Symbian/iPhone/Windows Mobile? They
support bluetooth and Android will too, in a couple of months. Hacking
bt in will render your app useless for other phones, and a system
update could break your app.

Hum,
Thanks for your help.
Well, iPhone doesn't support Bluetooth and i don't like windows
mobile. I need to investigate the Symbian plataform, but i saw a
couple of linux devices and i will probabably use them cause i'm more
used to linux than Symbian plataform.

Android is based on a Linux kernel but strictly speaking it's not
