[android-developers] help me...

2016-08-19 Thread Subin_linda bae
I'm Incheon university student from Korea.
I have some problems while making apps.
I would like to make an android wear application which have heartbeat
function, not a heartrate. But on android developer page, there is some
information about heartbeat. On that page heartbeat is added in API level
24. But most of products have under that API level. Although that's about
reaction of human body so we cannot use emulator. But there is one more
doubt. Becaues some smart phones like galaxy S7, can see the heartbeat.
Can you help me to solve those problems?

The error says it all and is clear. The class ProcessRegister *MUST*
contain a method doinBackground. This is simple Java. Read about abstract
classes/interfaces and you will understand.

Have you read through the docs? Starting Activities from other Activities
(and other components) is one of the core principles in Android development

 Summary:

 60 kms of trek in 5 days, climb from 4200ft to 13200 ft and back, from
 44 degree Celsius to ice and back.
 5 days of training at the base camp before the actual trek..

 Stay in jungle, fetch vegetables and firewood in jungle and make your
 own food, no civilisation or mobile connectivity for 5 days.
 No basic amenities and completely living out in the wild in a group of 8
 unknown people.
 Lots of risk, glad to be alive and still can't believe it that I made it
 back without any major injury.

 Hi all,
 As I write this while on the 8 hour road trip from dehradun to
 Delhi, the last 15 days are probably a life changing experience.

 So let me start a narrative on it this Way.. I joined Tata Motors as a
 Post Graduate Trainee (PGT) a month ago (14 may). The PGT cadre of Tata is
 a very well treated group of young and best managers and future leaders
 from top-10 b-schools in the country.

 We are treated really well and that includes almost a year of stay in a 3
 star hotel next to gateway of India.

 Tata believes that we being the future leaders ought to be given a
 outbound worthy enough to signify the end of our MBA course and our welcome
 to the company.

 And so after a 3 week long induction in South Bombay, we are sent in
 batches to Uttarakashi in Uttaranchal for the outbound.

 So let me now start from the first day.. we (11 tata motors ppl) almost
 miss the flight to Delhi (cause I was late while packing) ... then we goto
 Dehradun in a cab and the next day we proceed to Rwada village in
 Uttarkashi which is our base camp (about 100 kms from Gangotri).

 The base camp is next to a tributary of Ganges (Asi-Ganga from Dodital)
 which is our source of water for every need.

 Next up we are issued our rucksack and sleeping bag and told about basic
 do's and don'ts before we are sleep in our tents.

 The next morning begins at 5:30 AM with basic PT (a 3 kms walk and few
 exercises) and then we (48 people from different Tata companies) are
 divided

Why don't you just rebuild it from your original source (or use your
original apk)?

Or were you trying to get help from this group telling you how to steal
someone else's work? If that's the case, my suggestion is to use the
read manual (rm) command on all of the files, and it'll tell you how
to do it.

You need to write a program for the server side that implements the same
protocol as the one on your client side. That, or use an existing
network protocol and the daemon for it.

Beyond that, unless your PC is somehow running Android, you'll need to
find the right forum in which to ask your question. Hint: this is NOT

[android-developers] Help me!!!

2011-08-10 Thread ram
Hello, I'm trying to find a way to rotate a View, or (more
conveniently) an entire layout, upside down and have it stay that way.
I found the rotation and animation classes in the SDK, and these come
close to what I want, but at the end of the animation I want my Layout
to stay rotated; repeating the animation or just flipping back right-
side-up doesn't help me with my app unfortunately.

The only thing I can think of so far would be to find the source code
for the rotate class, and override it such that the ...and then flip
it back around to be right-side-up code never happens. I'm not sure
exactly where I'd find the original rotate code for reference if I
were to do something that extensive however.

I've found references online to the full android source - is that
basically what I'd be looking at downloading to be able to attempt
something like this? Am I missing a simple option on the rotation that
would let it just stay put after I rotate it? Any help would be very
much appreciated! Thank you!

I would try overriding onDraw for your Layout, applying a transform on the
canvas and then calling the base draw function.

P.S. - Help me!!! is a fairly useless and mildly obnoxious title for a
post, likely leading to some people ignoring it. Something that actually
relates to the topic at hand is more likely to help you get help.

[android-developers] Help me with scrollview

2011-07-18 Thread Reis
hi, could somebody help me, please? :]

Do you remember what happen when there are a listview that contains
some icons (about three icons), and I touch the screen and scrollup or
scrolldown, so the list (of icons) moves and following my finger.

So I remove my finger from screen and the list back to the original
position (because have less icon then the size of screen). Look this
effect.

Well, my problem is that I have a activity and in this activity I've a
View (HorizontalScrollView) and it don't have the same effect, like
Listview. The icons (or other views) inside HorizontalScrollView just
follows to touch event, but when it leaves the icons(views) stay at
the position where it stopped.

As I don't find a horizontal listview, I'm trying to use scrollview
with this effect. Do you know how to do this?

Thanks for your attention

I think that if you have extra time, you use it to practice or learn more
English. All the Android functions are written from a western/US
perspective and so is the documentation. Your English needs to be up to par
to be able to read through it and any other official documentation. It
seems that English is more of a barrier for you than Android is.

Consider titling your posts with an appropriate heading that reflects the

[android-developers] help me understand: upper case characters in layout file names are disallowed

2010-11-22 Thread Justin Collum
I understand that these files map to R classes (generated). So I see
why punctuation characters (most) are disallowed. But I can't for the
life of me think of why main would be allowed but Main would not.
Why not something like firstScreen? Is there something about
generated files that I'm missing? Do caps screw them up somehow? I'd
like to make a view named defineNewList or something along those
lines. Annoying to have to use underscores: define_new_list.

[android-developers] Help me out with my Listview custom row layout, I already tried many combinations

2010-06-15 Thread Shai
Hi,
I am having trouble getting my layout to give me result I need, I
already tried many options and it seems that I'm doing something wrong
or completely missing something.

I have a listview with a custom row layout I can't seem to working
although it shouldn't be complex.
I need of the list row to insist of:

Icon -- title text (bigger and bold) with a short multi line text
under the title -- ImageButton

My problem in most of my tests is the icon to the right usually
doesn't appear, I guess my center group grows and takes all the space
of the button.
My last failed attempt was with a Relative Layout, didn't have too
much luck with a Linear Layout either.

Here is the row XML:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?
RelativeLayout xmlns:android=http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/
android
 android:layout_width=fill_parent
 android:layout_height=wrap_content
 android:padding=4dip
ImageView
android:id=@+id/icon
android:layout_width=48dip
android:layout_height=48dip
android:src=@drawable/icon
android:layout_marginRight=4dip
/

  LinearLayout
 android:id=@+id/centertext
 android:layout_width=wrap_content
 android:layout_height=wrap_content
 android:layout_toRightOf=@+id/icon
 android:orientation=vertical

TextView
android:id=@+id/titletext
android:textSize=16sp
android:textStyle=bold
android:textColor=@color/titlecolor
android:layout_width=fill_parent
android:layout_height=wrap_content

/
TextView
android:id=@+id/summarytext
android:layout_width=fill_parent
android:layout_height=fill_parent
android:textSize=10sp
android:textColor=@color/titlecolor
android:singleLine=false

/
/LinearLayout

ImageButton
android:id=@+id/android_button
android:layout_width=48dip
android:layout_height=48dip
android:layout_toRightOf=@+id/centertext
android:src=@drawable/playbutton
android:background=#
/

/RelativeLayout

Any pointers on what am I doing wrong ? Would you suggest keeping the
relative view or dropping it ?

How can I force my vertical LinearLayout (@+id/centertext) to leave
space for my button ? I tried both 'wrap_content' and 'fill_parent'

[android-developers] Help me in TextMessage and DataMessage

2010-02-01 Thread aishwarya shukla
Hello Everyone
I am unable to use the sendTextMessage Function of the smsManager class
successfully.
The other emulator is not reporting the message received. No notification
comes on it.
However i am able to send the Text Messages normally using the built in
Messaging App in the Application.

Also i downloaded and tried the SMS tutorials in the mobiforge and other
websites, the tutorial program is crashing.
// Code is as given below

package sms.app;

import android.app.Activity;
import android.telephony.*;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.widget.Toast;
import android.content.Intent;
import android.app.PendingIntent;
import android.content.Context;
public class smsapplication extends Activity {
/** Called when the activity is first created. */
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.main);
SmsManager s=SmsManager.getDefault();
Intent intent=new Intent();
int requestCode=0;
int flags=0;
PendingIntent si=PendingIntent.getActivity(getApplicationContext(),
requestCode, intent, flags);

   try{
 s.sendTextMessage(5554, null, This is my string, si, null);
}
catch(IllegalArgumentException e)
{
 Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), Exception caught,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
finally
{
 Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), Exception not caught,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}

  final int genfailure=s.RESULT_ERROR_GENERIC_FAILURE;
  if (genfailure==1)
   Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), GENREIC_FAILURE,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
  final int noservice=s.RESULT_ERROR_NO_SERVICE;
  if (noservice==4)
   Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), NO SERVICE,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
  final int nullpdu=s.RESULT_ERROR_NULL_PDU;
  if (nullpdu==3)
   Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), NULL PDU,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
  final int radiooff=s.RESULT_ERROR_RADIO_OFF;
  if (radiooff==2)
   Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), RADIO OFF,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
  final int iccunsent=s.STATUS_ON_ICC_UNSENT;
  if (iccunsent==7)
   Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), ICC unsent,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
  final int iccsent=s.STATUS_ON_ICC_SENT;
  if (iccsent==7)
   Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), ICC sent,
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();

}
}

Also i have given the SMS_SEND permission in the manifest file.
I tried the same code in different machine too, it doesnt work.
Also most of the tutorials in the net use the deprecated function
android.telephony.gsm.SmsManager and not the new one
android.telephony.SmsManager.

For my project work i have to use a datasms . Can anyone help me with a
working sample app in Android 2.0 or 2.1 which uses data message.
Further how i am not able to figure out how to register my recipent
application to a particular port to which i am sending a data message using
another instance of the emulator.

I need to solve this issue fast. I am stuck at this place for my project,

Any Help would be highly appreciated.

I don't know what you are trying to do, but it should be

cat 3.bmp  /dev/...

(with a slash at the beginning).

The correct path could change based on your framebuffer driver in the
kernel.

http://www.techjini.com/blog/2009/01/10/android-tip-1-contentprovider-accessing-local-file-system-from-webview-showing-image-in-webview-using-content/

- is this an official way ? I read that android did not like webview
to access local data (in my case it is definetly needed)
- is there a way to access regular db fields, id, int, varchar,
blobs
- do i have to write a plugin for web view ?
- android does not and will never adress that kind of need and I
should just give it up, find another solution ?

thx a lot for your time
and precious help

have a gr8 day
