The SQL DBA is looking for candidates *local to Minnesota* and they
must be *USC
or Green Card.*





DBA will be installing, administering and supporting the company’s database
systems for both internal and external clients.  The candidate will be a
member of the IT Enterprise Services team, which has responsibility for the
overall technology production operations for all infrastructure and
applications.



Must Haves



5+ years of working in a database administrator role

Understanding of database mirroring, availability groups and log shipping a
must

Proven background and strong experience of database structures, theories,
principles, and practices

Experience with MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL

Experience with Microsoft full Database Stack (T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS)

Experience using tools such as Red Gate Tools and Idera a plus

Knowledge of education standards such as QTI/APIP, SIF, AIF a plus

Strong analysis, research, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities



Assist in troubleshooting database services issues as they occur, including
after-hours and weekends as required

Ensure all databases are under maintenance plans, including but not limited
to backups, stats update and indexes

Maintain optimal operating performance for database systems

Investigate user observations concerning performance of systems, provide
detailed analysis on what factors are contributing to user’s observations

Recommend solutions by defining database physical structure and functional
capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications

Collaborates with Database Developers/Architects to support database
requirements including but not limited to HA/DR

Maintain database performance by calculating optimum values for database
parameters, implementing new releases, completing maintenance requirements,
evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products

Design and develop appropriate database capacity planning documentation

Performs database upgrades, installations, log shipping, and migrations to
alternate systems

Ensure quality of service by establishing and enforcing industry best
practices

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational
workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal
networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in
professional societies

Configure and maintain database monitoring tools, which are necessary to
enhance the user experience and alerts technical administrators if
degradation is experienced
