Hi,

As the subject says:

Angstrom 2007.12 is going to dissappear from the org.openembedded.dev branch

Which isn't a suprise since conf/distro/angstrom-2007.1.conf states:

<snip>
# If you want to use the angstrom 2007.12 release or if
# you want to base you distro on angstrom 2007, switch to
# the org.openembedded.angstrom-2007.12-stable branch
# THIS FILE WILL GO AWAY IN JANUARY 2008!!
</snip>

So if you want to develop for angstrom 2007.12, use the
org.openembedded.angstrom-2007.12-stable branch. This branch will hold
all security and bugfixes for the 2007.12 release. Development will not
stop!

If you want to develop for angstrom 2008.x use the org.openembedded.dev
branch.

So what are the big differences? Have a look at this small table:

                2007.12         2008.x
gcc             4.1.2           4.2.2
glibc           2.5             2.6
uclibc          NA              0.9.29
eglibc          NA              2.7
xorg            1.3             1.4

The 2008.x versions are also open to change, so we might change the
above to older or newer versions, whichever turn out to work the best.

And again, development for 2007.12 will not stop, it just moved to a
branch.

regards,

Koen
