With its manufacturing image, the BeagleBone Black only shows 297.40
BogoMIPS in its /proc/cpuinfo. The nominal processor speed is 1GHz,
however. Does anyone know why this discrepancy?

Running Angstrom v2013.12 (downloaded and compiled from git repository
in last few days) on BBB. Get the following result:
BogoMIPS: 993.47
Booted from SD card. This would seem to be an accurate figure.
