but when i save the photoshop file as PNG8 in stead of PNG24, the problem is
solved :)

PNG to start with - it seems like it's not getting a high enough bit depth
on the alpha channel.
Alternatively it might be a problem with your image dimensions - do you
still get the same problem at a lower resolution? Can
