AFP. 18 March 2003. Russian communists protest US war plans on Iraq. SAINT PETERSBURG -- Around 50 Russian communists gathered in front of the US consulate in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday to protest Washington's plans to launch war on Iraq. Waving red banners alongside Iraqi flags and portraits of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, the protestors shouted "Bush, fascist!" and "Bush, assassin!" They unfurled banners reading: "Yankees - killers" and "The USA is the source of international terrorism." The Communist party said it plans to organize similar protests in front of the US consulate every day this week.
