MOSCOW, April 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Russian Defense Minister Sergei
Ivanov said on Tuesday that he did not rule out the possibility ofcreating
integrated armed forces of the Russian-Belarussian Union State.
Speaking at a press conference in Minsk, the visiting minister said
the creation of integrated armed forces has long been announced as a goal.
"I don't see any reasons why we should not advance in this way," he
said.
He stressed that "political decisions" must be made in order
toestablish such armed forces, but declined to predict the exact date the
union forces may be created.
"No one will be able to say when all this will happen," he said.
Ivanov is paying a visit in Minsk for meetings of the two Defense
Ministries. He also held meetings with Belarussian President Alexander
Lukashenko on military cooperation. Enditem
