Wow, thanks!   You mentioned that there might be a performance hit with
this option--any guess as to how significant that would be?

Sorry -- no data.  I'm guessing that for all but the busiest and/or memory consuming the difference wouldn't be noticed.  The other thing to consider if you move to this is how errors would be handle, i.e., any error anywhere on the page (outside a "catch") would stop processing.
