Yeah, as a turf major I knew it was going to be tough going with the
weeds but wanted to try to get it done to prevent erosion. I do have
overhead irrigation but the crab grass comes in so thick here. I
think next year I'll just plant a temp. cover crop that can be tilled
under until the
We have some success with Red Fescue seeded in late summer or early
fall. Start with Roundup and than keep the soil worked until you seed
it. We have had some clover come in.

I've found the best way to be successful in your type of situation is to spray
Roundup to the centers to eliminate most rhizome type grasses and perennial
broadleaves before you work the ground for replanting. Depending on your soil
and the seeder used the ground may not even need to be tilled.
