That's true, but it's not the only reason. There is also the issue of
the kernel not being upstream and the firmware not being
Fedora-compatible (This latter point might have been remedied, haven't
looked in a while). There are likely other reasons as well.

approached cautiously. There is also a question of timing- what is the
cutoff for adding a new release blocking device? Alpha? Beta? Is it a
feature request? Feedback appreciated.

The transition
started in Fedora 15 with gcc 4.6, so that is the earliest gcc revision
that is likely to be supportable, in a compat package or otherwise.
