Yes, he can discriminate that, but he also appreciates posts that are full of
love and affection for his music and show respect for the type of artist that

Re: [arr] Gotta think thrice before posting nowadays...

2010-08-25 Thread Srini Santhanam
This is my 'long' standing view on 'Rahman reads all the mails in our group'.

I don't think AR reads all mails here - I feel it's nearly impossible for him
given the various roles he plays, the busy schedule he runs and the number of
mails hits we have here.

I guess Gopal / Vijay would share with him the general flavor of the
conversations here as well as media in general and might forward him a couple
of notes that they deem fit.

I also feel that most people who post here share their genuine appreciation
because they like what they hear and not because Rahman or Blaaze are reading
their mails.

This is not a statement of fact, just my gut feel.

Cheers,
Srini

I am sure ARR is wise enough not to get carried away by such mails. He

Re: [arr] Gotta think thrice before posting nowadays...

2010-08-24 Thread V S Rawat
I can also feel when something is constructive criticism, and I
appreciate and encourage that.

But sometimes, when it goes beyond an individual opinion and someone
writes it in the tone of "I know it all, I am right, you all are
wrong. last good album of ARR was Roja." Then I feel very much
irritated. Still, I would let them write to their heart's contents as
it is them who are making a joke of themselves here.

For that matter, I can also feel when something is hype and pampering,
and I hate such unqualified praises more that I hate unqualified
criticisms.

Just like some people are now known to shower unqualified criticisms,
I can also identify some people who are now known to shower unqalified
praises, I think they are writing so just because they want to grab
attention of ARR by such praises who is said to read mails here.

both types of posters should use self moderation.

No Pratap,

Most of us don't have any problem with constructive criticism.
We started bashing, when someone speaks with prejudiced mental set.

Nowadays it's kinda scary to post anything negative here. In my opinion, A.R.
doesn't need people to just praise him. A little bit of criticism is needed.
Mistakes needs to be pointed out. Any bad review posted should not be
automatically be shot down.

Negative reviews are important. But of course, I'm talking about sensible ones,
not the typical music missing in soul, absence of vintage Rahman (I personally
do not recognize this term), no Taal or Dil Se and Khawaja Mere Khawaja... The
list is never ending. Write sensible negative review if you have to. Those who
do not agree, give proper argument (or ignore it). Don't just get all
defensive.
Don't keep replying: "Oh yeah, you know better than AR". As we all know, AR
reads our posts. If there is anything to be improved (if there is), this would
be helpful. Instead of him going through all the unnecessary hate mails.

I'm just writing this because recently (since 2007, when I joined), with every
new releases someone will post a negative review and the rest start bashing
that
person. Let's have some healthy interactions here...

Agree with you.

But, negative reviews if written sensibly, has always been welcomed.. it is
mostly the so called "missing soul", "rahman of 90s" kind of mails that
irritates the most. and strangely though, those are the types of mails we
see now a days more than creative criticism..
