First things first: ARR is doing re-recording/BGM for ATM. It's confirmed from
reliable sources. Don't keep on spreading rumors. Rather, start spreading this
information.

Understand the reality: You cannot have ATM songs in a movie like Boys and the
vice versa is also not possible. ARR has come up with some "working numbers" to
suit the image of a hero who has the potential to hit deep. So, free your mind
and enjoy the songs given by the musical genius.

A bit of history- The lesson learnt: Till 2001, if an ARR song doesn't catch me
instantly, I used to keep rambling like many in this group (!). I remember how
bad I felt about mudhalvan songs initally. Later I realized how those songs
grew in me. Similar case happened with Alaipayuthey. I never liked yaaro
yaarodi, evano oruvan. But later, I realized how ARRs song create a swinging
shift thereby making someone to rethink what he/she has thought about it
initially. Okay there you go! That's ARR for you. I made something firm in me.
i.e. Not to take any quick decisions for ARR albums. This strategy has worked
great for me. For example, I never liked tu bin and lukka chuppi from RDB
initially but I believed that ARR's song will grow in me. Later I felt that
lukka chuppi is a gem of a song and tu bin bataye a golden gift from ARR.

Bottom line: Accept ARRs songs as it comes and it will definitely strike gold
in you simply because, music from ARR is not a result of ARRs work but ARRs
blood. A man who has dedicated his life to music and a man who has the courage
to experiment new sounds and genre of music. A simple example: When did rap
become famous in regional movies? Only after ARR bought rap stuff in alai
payuthe.

Okay, lets dive into the subject of this mail.

ATM Review:

After Laggan, all songs in an ARR album have caught me instantly only in ATM
i.e. m hearing all songs without skipping from day 1.

My pick of the album: Merlyn Monroe (just a shade sweeter than all the other
magnificent songs in the album)

Album rating: 10/10.

Bottomline: A versatile Rahman in show. ARR makes music sound easy but it is
not easy. ATM has a bunch of complex compositions. Kudos to all lyricists.

No, the Ponmagal Vandhaal remix is specifically credited to Krishna

entire album.

1. Ponmugal Vandhal 8.5/10

i'm not going to get into who should be credited for the
remix..etc.the rap is awesome...the beat and tune go really
well...ASLAM IS ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS OUT THERE!!!

2. Maduraka Pondadadi 10/10

great village songs...ARR surpasses his earlier pure village songs...i
like the variations in the later verses (esp. the "dhum, dhum
parts by the husky voiced female singer...in the same league as the
wonderful "kama karayil" from Varalaru (a criminally underrated album)

3. Valayapatti 10/10

one of the most experiemental songs i've heard...folk and
carnatic!!!...mixed with many, many other genres in between...it
sounds bizzare at times but that's a very good thing..ARR is expanding
out musical horizons

4. Kelamal 10/10

the vocals are fantastic...it's one of those epic romantic tracks and
has a club feel as wellreally powerful stuff

5. nee marilyn monroe 10/10

has a funk groove that hasn't been heard in indian music...pretty much
a terrific r&b song

6. elapoguzhum 8.5/10

i don't liek this one as much as eveyrone else..i still like it a lot
thoughhas a similar vibe to the titile track from Ah Aah...but it
evolves into something else as it goes on..i love the epic horns in
the middle..and the last minute or so are jaw-droppingly good and take
the song in unexpected directions

Overall: 9.5/10

nobody can f*** with ARR!

dear rahmaniacs

it was yesterday i heard the ATM songs ( the CDs reached here in OMAN so
late).
TO be frank i was so flatered . the CD runs non stop in my room and my
roomates are now familiar with the songs.
It would be better to say that the songs have an immanuel touch and not
simply rahmans
It s a bit long since Rahmans has done such a croud puller..makes his
position as the emperor of indian music..
Sivaji Guru and now ATM Fantastic
My awaitings were not in dismay
JAI ARR (THE MAESTRO AMAZES MINDS)

Re: [arr] My ATM review

2007-10-24 Thread Sai
if that is so, they could have well said "Ponmagal Vandhal Remix,
Guest Composer: Krishna Chetan". Rahman was the guest composer in
Fiza where he composed for a song "Piya Haji Ali". He was duly
credited for that as the guest composer.

Here crediting Krishna Chetan in a small single line says that
Krishna Chetan has played a major part in the composition of
the "Ponmagal Vandhal remi" but he has not been single person in
composing that song. Rahman should have worked on it.

sai

Rahman Sir made a mistake by giving credits to the people involved in

Instead he shud have stuck to the old way of audio cassettes where for
each song it carries only the singers name..

No names of harmony/instrumentalist/audio
engineer/co-ordinators/orchestrators..

Sigh**

people enjoy the album...

am very disappointed abt the way the people in this grp picking up ARR...
