JAVA is also used by remedy JAVA plugin hence it's not necessarily a MidTier only.. you need to rely on the logs. Also dba can help you with SQLs that causes timeout. , you may need to check where do you see timeout, as timeouts can be client specific as well as AR Server specific too. From:

This can be good approach, but I would suggest 2 things here: 1) create overlay of your existing form/customization for backup purpose - if you are running Overlay aware environment i.e. 7604 and above 2) test it using test form , a character field on it , a menu attached to it,, few records

What are you saying. You deleted field1 and created field2 with field ID of field1 and still you can see the data of field1 in field2? That is not possible. If you delete a field, remedy will delete its corresponding column from the database.
