Depending on what you are using for the virtual server control in Windows 2008 you should be able to set what the virtual environment gets for the MAC address. That would change the value ARS retrieves. I also seem to remember there being an issue with multiple adapters returning different

We have dealt with many customers for their successful upgrade from 7.0.3 ITSM , 7.5 ARS to 8.1 ARS/ITSM. I would suggest to go with Parallel Upgrade rather than In Place upgrade , the reason being that your existing environment may not be well equipped to deal with 8.1 version effectively
