I'm not sure why you woulg get the fault errors. However , You could try the
beta arsperl 1.92.
I have een uising it on 7.5 with out any issues.
It couldn't hurt to try it.
I did notice a patch 8 on the site too for 7.1.0

If you have any direct sql calls you might nees to rebuild them. There are some
differences there like distinvt and unique for an example.
