NOLOGGING can be used to minimize the amount of redo generated by Oracle. Only the following operations can make use of nologging: SQL*Loader in direct mode INSERT /*+APPEND*/ ... CTAS ALTER TABLE statements (move/add/split/merge partitions) CREATE INDEX ALTER INDEX statements
