My experience with mid-tier configuration is limited, so bear with me
Our system is as follows (ITSM 8.1) :
Load balancer - 5x Mid-tier servers - Load balancer - 5x AR Servers
For normal user connections, this seems to be working perfectly.

Depending on your configuration and what apps you have, if you enable more
than one application server in your Mid-Tier, especially if they are
servers that are part of a server group, you may find that your home page
application links are duplicated for each server you add...which is

the CMDB will be active too) and the default home page is the IT Home.
If that works in a similar manner to the regular AR Home page, then
having duplicated application options would cause too much confusion.

I have only worked with ITSM 8 a few times...but I believe that there is
workflow on the 'default home page' that limits the application lists to
the server that is listed in the configuration as the home page
server...so, if that's your LB server, then it wouldn't be an issue

You can have multiple servers configured in one midtier server but the
home page will show from the server that is defined in the General Settings.
