Ron:

Although this is not relevant to your main question, I wanted to mention it to
you as FYI, as it's what Roger was driving at with the questions he asked you.

I understand that the information you have immediately available to you is your
User Tool version and Developer Studio version, but anyone who works with ITSM
also has an AR System version (call that the version of the underlying server
infrastructure) and a version of ITSM that you tell your users that they are on
(call that the application version). If you aren't sure, ask one of your ITSM
server admins. I am not an ITSM server admin myself, so I have to ask ours
about these things 1x-2x a year to make sure that I didn't miss an upgrade
somewhere along the way.

There is also a server OS version and a DB version as well as the AR System
version, Application version, User Tool version, and Dev Studio version that
can come into play when answering questions. I finally put them into my
ARSList signature (the ones that apply for the type of questions I most often
need answers from the List for) so that I wouldn't drive myself crazy trying to
remember it all!

You listed Dev 8 and User 7.6.04, please confirm what version of ARS and ITSM
you have. It is possible that you do not have an Overlay capable form.

Dev 8/User 7.6

I am in Best Practice Mode looking at a form. Marked Overlay. This was an OOB

Form that numerous people have edited...which I hate.

Anyway, now I can not "Convert to Custom" (which I wouldn't want to do anyway,

right...with an OOB Form?). I can't "Convert to Base" nor can I "Create

Overlay". These features are all greyed out. Why would this happen? Do I need to

delete the overlay and leave it back at the Original form in Base Mode and then

go back in, in Best Practice Mode and create the Overlay and make the editions.

I looked at several of my overlaid forms and this is true with them all...is

this normal with overlaid? I may just be scatter brained due to the holidays

coming up and just not thinking Remedy if you get my point but I had to ask.

Ron
