What are the truths about this scheme of intrerlinking rivers?
Is it just a pie in the sky,( surely the talks go back 30 plus years) or is
it feasible, I mean in the Indian context that is; and therefore a matter
of serious concern for Assam?
First off , are the elevations of the rivers
Dear netters,
Am I missing something if I state that the interlinking does not hurt Assam? I do not know the details but it will be logical to think that the connection to India would be made somewhere in Goalpara and if it is so all of Assam would have been served by Brahmaputra water before the

I am not aware this is being marketed as a soln to
flood problem or if the AGP imagines it as the case.

Dilip is right here and our AGP leadership(sic!) is
totally wrong. Assam will benefit from it if assamese people take the right
steps here such as :
1. keep the recurring stream of revenue as
suggested by Dilip.
2. join the panel which will decide the water
off-take points,

And I thought just the opposite - really thought that would take care of the miseries of my distant relatives in the villages. I have been thinking like the politicians lately (once more before).

Good points. I fully agree. Water should be treated like another revenue earning comodity along with Oil and Tea by Assam, and move in a positive manner taking a leadership role instead of fearing for the unknown. We should try to get the full study report and its implications.Rajen Barua

only shown some signs of increase with the installation of corrupt tube
wells by Gogoi's entourage.
