If you had two pots lines coming in, you can easily do this. I actually did
it from the AMP interface by creating a call group containing only the
outside phone number I want to redirect the call to. Then I set the inblund
call plan to go to that call group. Thus, a call comes in and goes right

Sheesh enough already, as if this list doesn't get enough messages per day
as it is. Many people prefer forums, many people prefer mail lists. If you
prefer lists, fine, you are already here. If you prefer forums, then use
them. I have a forum at geekgazette.com and other people have them as well.

Type show translation in your Asterisk console to check if you have speex

Dialup quality is going to be very very poor to the point of not being
usable most of the time. You should use a service that has a low bandwidth
codec that works well like Skype or Teleo. The Codecs for Asterisk do not
like dialup. I have heard that Speex might work ok but I havent tried it.

FYI the xten xten supports speex. I am planning on testing dialup and the
low bandwidth codecs.
Anyone have experience with dialup and speex/g729/lpc10?
Thanks

Why bother to spend all the time messing around with it when the best you
could possibly get would be poor quality and half duplex when for $7 you can
buy a PSTN card on eBay that works great.

Why would this ever change or need to change? Many many people are quite
happy with how Skype works and would never need anything else. Its like
saying why would anyone use ICQ/AIM/Yahoo/MSN when you can run your own
email server. The application is similar but still very very different.

You arent going to make this happen as you describe. Vonage is not a good
service to use with Asterisk. To quote from the Wiki:
Vonage service is locked to the ATA they send you. It is not possible to
connect Asterisk (or any other SIP UA) directly to your main Vonage service.

setting the inbound calling plan to go to the call group. Granted, thats easier

If you are bringing in a T1 trunck for the phone lines, you will need a
Digital Line Card for the Asterisk server. Once you have that configured
within Asterisk, everything else is the same. A good provider such as XO or
SBC can easily sell you a Voice T1.

BroadVoice is one of the better ones from a service/cost point and when you
can get it to work, it works quite well. Here is an article we just did on
