Hello I recently get a Cisco 7940G IP Phone and I try to make several
things with it and I en counted many difficulties:
1.) I tried to unlock the phone and to set manually IP Address,
Netmask, Gateway etc. I don't get any luck.
2.) I tried to upgrade firmware like they said with tftp server... I
This phone is currently running the SCCP (Skinny) image. Before you will
get anywhere you need to load the SIP firmware image onto it. The SEP*
configuration files are for SCCP.
After doing that, the phone will start requesting the correct files. You
may need to upgrade through various SIP
I understand, but i cannot load the new firmware... is any well know method?

Thanks! I'll have to load it on my Wife's Windows machine. I have gone
total Linux and the darn things keep going! My wife's Vista WinBlows
laptop has to be booted every few days.

N, Thats only if you want to use SIP which i dont, I just want to
use the standard sccp that comes with the phones that link to the call
managerand to be bluntly honest..the phone is EOL..cisco isnt gonna
support it anyway. It has been EOL since december of 2000

I have some Cisco IP Phone 7912 registered to
Asterisk. I wanted to know if it is possible to enter the IP address of the IP
phone situated in the same LAN you want to call instead of its phone number.
Is it possible with other IP Phones?
