Is it possible to send sip messages (debug) to a file or syslog server
without having them present in the console? If so, does anyone know what
kind of performance hit this would create.
Instance has approx 800 sip peers.

Hello list.
Can I do a sip debug on a per call base ?
Or is there a way that I could write the SIP invite messages + SDP (to
view the codecs presented) to a file ?
Anyone tried this before with a somewhat automated Wireshark script
maybe ??

I want to have the output of 'sip debug' go to /var/log/asterisk/messages.
My logger.conf has:
console = notice,warning,error
messages = notice,warning,error,verbose,debug
However, output from 'sip debug' still goes to the Asterisk console. How can I
get it to go to /var/log/asterisk/messages
Did you do a logger reload command from the CLI?

This strikes me as something that should be really very simple to do, but I

Is there a way of logging all SIP debuging info to a file somewhere?
It would help me greatly!

Might take a look at /etc/asterisk/logger.conf file to see if that's what
you're looking for.

Use tethereal or tcpdump to log sip (and/or rtp/rtcp) packets to a
pcap file, then use ethereal (presumably on a different box) to view
them.
