This is in reply to my own message, just thought I would answer it so
that if anyone else was having the same issue they could fix it.
Answer: I upgraded to the newest version of Asterisk, recompile,
install, and now I can press the hold button on the phones and hear the

I think that it might have to do with the codec that is being used. I had a
problem trying to get the hold music to work with calls that went over our
trunk. I can't remember which one did not work but hopefully this will give
you a direction.
