I think Answer makes no sense at all because the network will redirect
then continue to cancel the preceding call setup.

ETSI Call Deflection/Rerouting message flow:

  Deflection
CallerCarrier PBX destination
  |---SETUP-| ' '
 |SETUP| '
 |---CALL PROCEEDING---| '

 |DISCONNECT---| '
 |---RELEASE---| '

This will also require this settings on the dahdi channel?
facilityenable=yes
transfer=yes
??

Also, according to this document http://www.asterisk.org/node/48611
seems that DAHDISendCallreroutingFacility() doesn't return anything so
how we can test if the command was successful or refused?

Subject: [asterisk-users] IAX2 availability testing

Hi folks,

What methods are available for testing IAX2 service availability? I know
about iax2 show peers and iax2 show registry, but I'd like some
alternatives.

Tcpdump shows a little more about what's going on, but a handy test using
nmap doesn't seem to work anymore (see
http://shearer.org/UDP_Reachability_Testing).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Jaap

PS -- My systems run Debian squeeze with Asterisk 1.6.2.9.

[asterisk-users] Frequent Asterisk Restarts

2011-11-10 Thread Mike Diehl
Hi all,

I've recently started experiencing frequent * restarts, usually caused by a
segfault. So, I moved my users to a different server and the same thing
happened. It's a fairly busy box, so I considered memory exhaustion. Nope,
not even swapping.

Now I'm thinking file handles, but I won't be able to test until tonight. Is
there anything else I should look at?

I'm (re)starting * via inittab. I'm assuming I can just use a script that
contains the proper ulimit incantation to increase the file handles...?

Any other advise on how to improve stability? BTW, both servers are running
Asterisk 1.6.2.9 w/ realtime sip/voicemail.

Yes it was to /etc/asterisk/chan_dahdi.conf (oh how I wish the
problem was being caused by something that simple!).

Also,
What is the output of 'module reload chan_dahdi'?

asterisk*CLI module reload chan_dahdi.so
-- Reloading module 'chan_dahdi.so' (DAHDI Telephony Driver w/PRI)
asterisk*CLI

I know it's loading as Span 1 is working; making and taking calls with
no problem.

FWIW,

asterisk*CLI dahdi show status
Description Alarms IRQbpviol CRC Fra Codi
Options LBO
T2XXP (PCI) Card 0 Span 1OK 0 0 0 CCS HDB3
CRC4 0 db (CSU)/0-133 feet (DSX-1)
T2XXP (PCI) Card 0 Span 2OK 0 0 46 CCS HDB3
CRC4 266-399 feet (DSX-1)
asterisk*CLI

I've, obviously, been doing more trial-and-error and noticed that when I
run with libpri-1.4.11.5 (no other change, just install libpri and
restart asterisk) the ISDN causecode returned from a call on Span 2 is
actually 21 and not 18, as it is with libpri-1.4.12, and the channels on
span 2 don't get reset each time. Weird.

This is driving me loopy as the 'old' ISDN PBX on span 2 is used as a
glorified 'channel bank' with fax machines, modems and other analogue
stuff on it that really does need to work :-(

I am curious about the D-Channel not being available.

Can you check the span status on the far end?

Though I have no experience with the type of box on the far end, I know
with my Nortel box, I can have the T-1 'loop' running, but the D-Channel
could be disabled. I can also have the D-Channel up and have the

Also, what is the output of 'pri show spans'?

[asterisk-users] FXS - Power Alarms

2011-11-10 Thread Tim Nelson
Greetings-

On occasion, I'm seeing the following in syslog on some systems using analog
cards with FXS modules:

[ 1664.861183] Power alarm on module 1, resetting!

These are typically cleared by restarting asterisk/dahdi, or power cycling the
system. However, I'm wondering if anyone can explain what condition exactly
causes this. My best guesses:

-Too high current draw on port (shorted pair)
-Not enough current supplying card/module (bad power supply)
-Voltage introduced to FXS port (FXS port connected to FXO or POTS line for
example)

Thanks!

I'll explore the options outlined in the document below, later tonight.

However, I've been able to reproduce the problem! It seems that when one of
my users, at a particular site, transfers a call to another extension,
asterisk bounces.

They're using Polycom 301's and 501's with SIP version 3.1.4.0070.

Without having gotten the debug info, yet, is there anything else I can look
at?

TIA.
