Re: [asterisk-users] AsteriskNow!
Ed Nuñez wrote: Does anyone know how to gain access directly to the configuration files in AsteriskNow? I have dual NICs and need to change the binding in the config file. I believe they blocked ssh2 access by default. ssh is not blocked. You have to ssh into the userid admin. If you haven't changed it the password is password. To get root access type sudo su. Once there you can change the root password with passwd. [asterisk-users] 1.4 and slow sound playback
I am testing 1.4 and am having trouble with the sound files. The gsm files are much larger than they used to be. Sox (12.18.2) plays them back really sllo. Apparently it thinks the sampling rate is 8000. When I specify -r 48000 it play back properly. I mention the sox behavior because Asterisk plays them back the same way sox does, very slowly. I am using the ulaw codec and I installed the ulaw sound files. Asterisk still plays the sound very slowly. I don't know if it is using the ulaw files or gsm files. How do I tell Asterisk to use the right sampling rate? Re: [asterisk-users] Setting system time via Asterisk
Gary Eck wrote: Looking at a Asterisk server which will not be attached to the Internet - and the user will be pretty computer illiterate. Has anyone seen a script or some mechanism to set the server time by using an extension, and entering the date/time via the keypad? Thanks! A more accurate system is to use the government's dial time service. You call the service with a modem and use special software to set the time. There is source code at that web site that will supposedly compile and run on linux. This is independent of Asterisk. It needs a regular dial up modem and a one minute long distance call to Colorado. http://tf.nist.gov/service/acts.htm ___ --Bandwidth and Colocation provided by Easynews.com -- asterisk-users mailing list To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
Re: [Asterisk-Users] How to send Fax from Asterisk
Vic wrote: 1. Person will call our phone number 2. Asterisk will answer and ask them to press 0 to talk to operator or 1 to receive a map how to get to our office. 3. User will press 1 and then he will be asked to press 1 for Office 1 map, 2 for Office 2 map and 3 for Office 3 map. 4. User presses 1 and then Asterisk will start sending fax for Map 1 So, 1. Is it possible? 2. How and what do I need to download and install? I think it can be done using fax and auto-attendant components, but ... which ones? I would really appreciate your help with this one. Thanks! Vic There is a txfax application available from http://www.soft-switch.org/installing-spandsp.html Of course, your plan requires that they call from their fax machine. It would also be possible to ask them to enter their fax number and call that number to deliver the fax. The wiki has information on originating calls from agi scripts. Re: [Asterisk-Users] SIP NOTIFY retries exceeded.
Just remove the the mailbox= from the sip.conf definition for the client and * won't send MWI. Bill Magnus Ternström wrote: Hello, I get warnings in my asterisk log: chan_sip.c:694 retrans_pkt: Maximum retries exceeded on call. I've used sip debugging to figure out the cause. It's my D-link DVG-1120S that don't understand message-summary events that asterisk sends out for MWI indication to the client. [Asterisk-Users] Reverse number lookup
Voicepulse Connect provides callerid number, but not name. If the caller isn't already in my database I would like to do a reverse number lookup on the net to get a name. There are several web sites that allow you to do exactly that, for free. To do that from * would require that I write scripts to run the web query and get the name off the results page. Some of the sites I looked at have terms of service that don't allow you to use scripts. Presumably they want you to read the ads on their web page while you are doing your query. Google provides reverse number lookup on their web site, and they have an XML/SOAP API you can use to do web searches but the API won't do phone number lookups. Some commercial services provide XML/SOAP reverse number lookups. They don't quote prices (if you have to ask, you can't afford it) but expect volumes of 5000 or more lookups per month. My volume would be more like 5. My local PSTN callerid gives you the city name of the caller if they don't know their name. It is a nice feature. I could figure out the call center, which is more or less the city, from data available from the North American Numbering Plan folks. Does anybody know of a good reverse number lookup solution for Asterisk? Perhaps I should offer to pay VP Connect $1/month more if they give me the name and save me a lot of trouble. [Asterisk-Users] Kerry/Edwards campaign and VOIP
I am trying find a way to help the local Kerry campaign and it occurs to me that VOIP and Asterisk could be a big help. I have never worked on a presidential campaign before but I think they must be very telephone call intensive. Using VOIP to connect local, regional and national campaign offices and to keep volunteers in touch with each other would save lots of money that could be spent on other things. Unfortunately anything that would be useful has to happen very quickly. Does anybody think it would be possible to build and ship preconfigured * servers to local campaigns quickly? Would it make more sense to use preconfigured ATA's from somebody like FWD or Sipphone? Is it too late to look at this? Thanks.
