[Asterisk-Users] monitoring sangoma cards via snmp

2006-05-18 Thread Sangoma Techdesk
When used in TDM mode, the sangoma cards will work under zaptel, so you will
need to perform SNMP at a higher level (i.e in Asterisk).

 Hello,

Digium does not provide snmp support to monitor their cards !

Anybody has tried Sangoma product A104 Quad T1/E1 or others ?

 Regards

[Asterisk-Users] sangoma A102 installation question

2006-05-15 Thread Sangoma Techdesk
Hi Klaus,
Yes, you will need to patch the kernel to run the Sangoma cards in TDM Voice
mode.

 Hi!

I've went through the READMEs and could not answer this question:

During installation, the Setup program asks:
Would you like update/upgrade wanpipe drivers? (y/n)

For a pure Asterisk TDM installation - is it required to
patch the kernel or is this only when using the sangoma cards
 as WAN router?

 regards
 klaus

[Asterisk-Users] Sangoma A200 preventing Zap channels

2006-05-01 Thread Sangoma Techdesk

We ran some tests on
our line here where a scope and voltmeter, we were able to see the waveform
changes on incoming call and the voltage at 6-7v during the conversation, but no
drop in voltage (or reverse tip/ring) when the remote side hanged-up. The
voltage went back to around 48v after 8-10 seconds, which is when the FXO port
goes on-hook.

We used a regular
analog phone connected directly to that line and it did not detect the hang-up
either. It looks like someBelllines do not provide disconnect
supervision.

RE: Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS RE: [Asterisk-Users] what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?

2006-04-24 Thread Sangoma Techdesk

At Sangoma we do quite a lot of back-to back T1 and E1
connections. T1 is not a very fussy connection, as the baud
rate is only about 750 kbps.

In our experience, for error free communications you can use
the following rules of thumb:
Up to 50 ft: Flat patch cable
Up to 500 ft: Ordinary twisted telephone cable Cat 5 may be
overkill unless you are going hundreds of feet.

For short runs, the use of cat5 vs proper T1 cables isn't likely to
have any impact unless there is a fair amount of induction from
electrical noise, etc. That can take the form of florescent
 fixtures,
transformers, older CRT monitors, etc, etc.

On longer runs, the shielded T1 cables are likely to provide better
results particularly if there happens to be any electrical noise.

Oh, and if shielded T1 cable is used, the shield at each end of the
cable must be grounded. (Let's see how many can figure out
 how to do
that via an rj45 plug. ;)

Totally agree with you, unshielded cables are only usable if
the distance is short. Just curious, how should one ground
the shield? Do you ground it to the ground bar in the server
 room? Any special requirements?

 TIA
