Not really. My experience is different:

H.323plus:

  http://bugs.debian.org/586541

(Mostly a Debian packaging issue, but I'm still not sure where this BOOL
is supposed to come from)

And then there is the other fork of OpenH323 - OPAL. Unlike H323Plus it
maintains the full bloat of openh323 (everything you need for Ekiga).
But it seems to have a saner build system. Sadly, Asterisk already has
to jump through hoops to build chan_h323. So using the checking for the
saner alternative seems to make things even more complex:

  https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=17226

And yet, my first impression is that those libraries are not compatible
enough (see https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=17226#123634 ). Or
am I missing some compatibility layer?

BTW: Please check the following as well. While I strongly suspect it is
Debian-specific, it should be simple to check (ldd
channels/chan_h323.so)

Re: [asterisk-users] Compiling H323

2010-06-21 Thread Michelle Dupuis
Yuk!

I did manage to get it compiling again, but same error. I found an environment
variable which makes the loader tell you what it's doing, and when I load
chan_h323.so I see that it is running the init code when it segfaults. So I'm
ok up to that point...

What a mess the entire H.323 is! I found 5 different h323 stakes (some
ancestors of others)...none work. Only chan_ooh323 builds and runs cleanly,
but has a pointer bug (double release) causing module to crash.

Anyone know if the chan_ooh323 programmers are available for fee/contract to
fix bugs?

Michelle

[asterisk-users] Compiling H323

2010-06-20 Thread Michelle Dupuis
I'm really struggling with an Asterisk 1.6.2.7 install (on centos 5.4)

The pwlib + opal packages don't satisfy Asterisk's configure script (to let
H323 compile), so I removed those and added the latest ptlib + h323plus (from
h323plus.org)

I can compile ptlib and h323, but when I load chan_h323 in asterisk I get a
segfault. I had to point LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/local/lib with the lib files
from ptlib and h323+ are installed by default, to even get asterisk to start.

Can anyone give some advice? I've burned 8 hours on h323 today

[asterisk-users] Compiling H323 channel Asterisk 1.4.Beta3?

2006-10-23 Thread Patrick

Is it possible to compile the h323 channel before installing
the full asterisk package as mentioned within the README

Within the Asterisk/channels/h323 Directory

It compiles after asterisk has been installed, but no
chan_h323.so has been created within the channels directory

Been able to compile all variants of h323 on previous
asterisk installations..

Any Ideas

Thanks again

[Asterisk-Users] Compiling H323 channels with FC3 and RedhatSE3

2005-01-18 Thread Nicolas FOURNIL
Hello

I'm trying for a while to compile and install OH323 channels on my two
distribs...

I have downloaded the src pwlib and h323 files versions given in the
documentation.
Make some RPMS with googled SPECs (and seems to give good results)
Tried to compile the channels failed each time... (I have also tried
with at-rpms oh323 and pwlib versions).

Did someone who have already done the job could help me ? -I'm looking
for working specs to compile pwlib and oh323-

Thanks

Nicolas.

2005-01-18 Thread Michael Manousos
Hi Nicolas,
Andrew McRory has done some some job towards packaging asterisk-oh323.
The packages are available at:
ftp://ftp.linuxsys.com/pub/releases/
You could start with his packages and then move on.
Michael.
