Are you sure the problem isn't on the Siemens' side? I have a Siemens
Gigaset SX303isdn connected to my asterisk (bristuff-0.2.0-RC8p) and
the Gigaset keeps running out of TEIs after some while (since TEI:s
lost by the terminal equipment will not be reused until asterisk is
restarted). Scheduled asterisk restarts every week seems to solve the
problem. With other ISDN phones this problem does not occur.

The phones are working perfectly when connected directly. Even if they
were faulty, bristuff acting as NT must be tolerant and not kill all
buses if one client is acting strangely. Anyway I offered serveral times
to debug this and due to my help with gdb, junghanns was able to fix
some null pointer references (core dumps) when hanging up. At least
Asterisk is no longer crashing completely under these circumstances but
the actual bug was never fixed.

Klaus was always very very kind on the phone. The only thing is that he
almost never returned my calls and that I had to try 20 times to get
hold of him once. On the other hand his brother just ditched me and did
not even want to talk back with Klaus. If we make a mistake in our
company, we have to apologize and try to agree on a compromise. That
idea never occured to Jens. And that's what is upsetting me most because
fighting for the return, buying another product, spending all the time
on the installation etc. is barely worth it.

thanks. that was the case.
you see my warrranty claims were made within the first weeks after
getting the product. I was patient for two years. I am still patient
because fighting for 600euros is barely worth it. so I still appreciated
it if they released a version that was working without destroying the
isdn connection every now and then (at least bristuff is no longer core
dumping asterisk as it did frequently for over a year).

furthermore there is a two year warranty by law in germany.

[Asterisk-Users] Bristuff / Junghanns / Customer Service

2005-11-17 Thread Frederic Steinfels

Hi

I bought a quadbri card from junghanns around two years ago. Although
there was no documentation (this is a commercial product!!!), Klaus
Peter Junghanns was very kind helping me till it worked more or less.

Nethertheless I have found SEVERAL errors that lead to complete hangups
and core dumps. I was running gdb for KPJ, writing extensive bug reports
and some of those bugs were fixed. Last January I told KPJ that I can
still not use my Simens Gigagaset cordless phones and sent him some bug
reports. He promised me to fix this bug several times but nothing
happened. The problem is that the phone is displaying the word Störung
(english probably out of order) within days of using it requiring
modules to be unloaded/loaded and asterisk restarted. I told him well
within the warranty time that if this is not resolved, I have to return
my card for refund. He always told me that I should wait, it will get
fixed shortly. His last email to me was on 24.06.2005:

ja der Bug ist bekannt. Er wird in der Version 0.3.0 behoben sein, die
Sie in den nächsten vier Wochen erwarten können. Diese Version hat die
Layer 1,2 und 3 Zertifizierung (TRB3, TRB3A1) beim Tuev Rheinland
erhalten.

(English: Yes this bug is known. it will be fixed in version 0.3.0 that
will be available within four weeks. This version will have the layer
1,2 and 3 certifications (TRB3, TRB3A1) from TUEV Rheinland)

On 01.10.2005 I sent junghanns.net an email saying that I will return
the card and that I expect a refund. Unfortunately I could not get hold
of KPJ. Jens Uwe Junghanns insisted on handling the case and not letting
me speak to KPJ. He wrote in german:

noch einmal, für den Fall dass Sie es nicht verstanden haben, wir werden
die Karte KEINESFALLS zurücknehmen. Außerdem liegt es ohne weiteres in
meinem Ermessen solchen Entscheidungen selbst zu treffen.

(english: again if you did not understand: we will not take back the
card under no circumstances. it is in my sole responsibility to decide
in such matters.)

I told him that it was agreed with KPJ and that should talk to him and
check emails or have this bug fixed immediately but he wrote again:

da brauche ich nichts zu sprechen. Die Entscheidung liegt bei mir und
lautet keine Rücknahme.

(English: I do not have to speak to him. the decision is mine, no refund)

Therefore my recommendation is not to buy anything from junghanns.net
Reasons:
- releasing crashing and unfinished products
- not including proper documentation
- taking a long period of time fixing bugs, even known ones
- most impudent customer support
- not honoring the law (warranty terms etc)
- not honoring their own word

Frederic

Hi, I've been using some quadBRI's, never had to much problems with
them. (I have some echo issues, but I hope these'll be resolved on the
next driver update, when we can use new echo can's..)

So, I can't confirm the bug(s) you're experiencing, but I must say that
I didn't have any hangups or dumps ever.. The driver seems to be stable,
but maybe we are using it in a very different situation..

Maybe it's a possibility to try the chan_misdn driver (www.beronet.com
has the instructions), it could help you.. they produce approx the same
cards but address it through mISDN instead of zaptel..

Cheers!

I bought a quadbri card from junghanns around two years ago.

I've never dealt with the company in question, but isn't it a bit much to
expect any company to take a product back after two years of use?
