Anyone know if a way to have voicemail files stored as mp3's?

Thanks,

Not sure about storing it, but we have a patch in place that converts any
voicemails to mp3 format before emailing it.

Doug,

I believe that asterisk-addons will add format_mp3. Also, you can just
use lame or something to convert them after the fact.

Thanks, I'll check out format.mp3. Voicemail.conf has the 'externnofify'
command, but I don't know if a) that runs before Asterisk sends emails and b)
how to pass parameters (ie like the mailbox) to it. If I can't pass parameters,
it's not very useful.

If you set the voicemail app to use mp3 as the format, it throws an error
that the format is only for reading, not writing.

This doesn't work in /trunk any longer I don't think, and format_mp3
is known to have memory management and stability problems in 1.2.

Actually, no, I haven't. Don't have any blackberries around to test with.
I'm sure we've got a couple laying around I could send ya for testing :)

Hi Philippe,

Blackberries can't play sound file attachments - wish they could.
