Just like sipp for testing SIP channels, do we have any such tools to
 test zap channels?

You can try PBX Testing Framework. It's using SIP by default, but as
it's based on asterisk you can replace Dial(SIP/xxx) with Dial(ZAP/xxx)
for PSTN emulation.

Also you would either need to connect your T1 to second asterisk box,
where test calls are generated, or do some crossover to another port on
same card, and have two asterisk's running on same machine.

Download from here: http://ftp.iq-labs.net/pbx-test/pbx-test-0.1.0.tar.gz

I did investigate a bit and understood a bit.

To generate enough number of calls, I can use the call files or
something similar.
. Have a T1 card on the box, so what are the elements required outside
the box, i.e. for the termination of calls originated from the Asterisk box.

. What are the limits as to the number of simultaneous calls per channel?
. Any tools/boxes to generate 'n' number of calls(/sec and so on) to
this T1 interface on * ?

Also, when reading about zap, got lines like :
Dial(Zap/1-2/c1234) ; Dial 1234 on span 1, port 2, with PRI clear
indication.

What does span 1, port 2 mean?

Thanks in advance
- Ben.
