Nope, I double checked it after seeing someone saying they had issues
with it and it is fine on the installation I have.

Which release are you running as this is still open
 https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=18654

I downloaded the 1.8.3.2 tarball, applied the patch in this issue:
https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=18818
and used that as my source.

I'll triple check when my colleges get in but it was only last week that
I tested *8 pickup on this particular installation.

Can you confirm you have pickupsound and pickupfailsound enabled in
features.conf.

Also, what's the outcome when 2 simultaneously try to pickup the same
ringing extensions using *8.
Warning do it out of office hours.

Hi

I do NOT have those 2 options enabled. I'll give the 2 simultaneous
calls scenario a test when there are bodies available to assist me.

Thanks to all for reply,

I have already put 1.8 in production. Actually we are using basic
function so I hope we are good and fingurs cross.

We've been running 1.8.3.2 with the patch to fix the local channel
 issue
(https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=18818) For about a month in
 our
test environment and it's been pretty stable. I would strongly advise
that you run and version you wish to migrate to in a test environment
for a good while as there are differences between 1.4 and 1.8 that
 are
quite subtle and hard to pick up on (e.g. how to set outbound CLI
 correctly in CDR).

Most of the big issues we found were due to our use of RealTime
architecture. I get the impression that RealTime is not that widely
 used
and therefore not that widely tested.

To any development people out there, one we get these 1.8 servers
 into
production I may well offer my services for testing with an emphasis
 on
 RealTime...

Are you not seeing issues with *8 call pick up then ?

Buyer beware - have you been following the Are we ready to leave 1.4
behind thread? 1.8 is solid on most functions, but some of the new
functionality is still buggy. If you are replacing an existing 1.4 or 1.6
install and don't opt for new features, you should be fine.
